Introduction and Preparation
For school-age clients undergoing IQ evaluation, the process begins with an introduction to the assessment and its purpose. Clients, along with their parents or guardians, meet with Dr. Lombard to gain an understanding of what to expect during the evaluation. This initial meeting serves as an opportunity for clients to ask questions, express any concerns, and alleviate anxieties about the assessment. Together, they discuss the importance of the evaluation in understanding the client’s cognitive abilities and learning potential. Proverbs 1:5 advises, “Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.” Clients are encouraged to approach the evaluation with a willingness to learn and grow, knowing that it serves as a tool to support their educational journey.
Assessment and Engagement
During the IQ evaluation, clients engage in various cognitive tasks and activities designed to measure different aspects of intelligence. These may include puzzles, verbal reasoning exercises, and visual-spatial tasks. Dr. Lombard guides clients through each activity, offering encouragement and support along the way. Clients are encouraged to approach each task with curiosity and a positive attitude, understanding that the evaluation is not about getting everything right but rather about doing their best. Proverbs 19:8 reminds us that “The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.” Clients are reminded of the value of learning and understanding as they navigate the assessment process.
Feedback and Support
After completing the IQ evaluation, clients receive a written report and feedback from Dr. Lombard regarding their performance and results. This feedback may include strengths, areas for improvement, and recommendations for supporting the client’s educational needs. Clients and their families are encouraged to discuss the results openly and collaboratively, focusing on how to best support the client’s learning and development. Romans 12:2 encourages believers to “not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Clients are reminded of the importance of continuous growth and renewal of the mind as they work towards reaching their full potential academically and beyond.
